RSM US provides consulting, tax and assurance services for the middle market, with more than 20,000 people and headquarters in Chicago1.
Best for: Middle-market companies that already work with an audit and tax adviser and want AI strategy, Microsoft-based implementation and managed services from the same firm.
Not the right fit for: Buyers who want named, quantified AI results in their own industry before they engage, or an accounting firm that would be hiring a competitor.
What RSM does for mid-sized companies
Its AI practice runs in three stages. Advisory covers readiness assessments, use-case prioritisation and ROI, governance, solution selection, workshops and copilot enablement. Implementation covers integration with enterprise systems, copilot rollouts, data platforms and generative AI deployments. Managed services cover model tuning, adoption support, team augmentation and data engineering2. The technology underneath is mostly Microsoft: Azure, Dynamics 365 for CRM and ERP, Microsoft 365 Copilot and Power BI.
RSM publishes industry pages for construction, real estate, retail and professional services among 31 industries, but none for wholesale distribution or logistics3. Its construction page describes technology strategy and anonymised cases without mentioning AI4. Because RSM is itself a tax and assurance firm, accounting practices should weigh the conflict before engaging it.
Published evidence
- Tillamook (dairy co-operative). A Microsoft case study in which the co-op’s IT director says it chose RSM for its dairy industry knowledge. No quantified result is given.2
Strengths and limits
Strengths
- Explicitly organised around the middle market rather than global enterprises.
- Covers the whole path: readiness assessment and roadmap, implementation, then model tuning, adoption support and managed services.
- Publishes industry pages for construction, real estate, retail and professional services, among 31 industries.
Limits
- The AI page shows no quantified client results; case studies are summarised through quotes.
- Its construction page does not mention AI, and there is no wholesale-distribution or logistics industry page.
- Pricing is not published.
Choose another option if: Your systems are not built on Microsoft, or you want a partner whose published AI work is in your industry rather than in local government or dairy.
